Lets Talk Stress!

Everyone knows the mental and physical effects of stress.  Each person’s stress is unique to them and can look different in everyone’s life based on there circumstances. Life can pull us in many directions requiring our energy and attention. Between demands of work/career, family life, relationships, and responsibilities life can feel overwhelming at times.

Unfortunately, stressful events and situations may be inevitable and we may not be able to control what happens. But here’s the good news…

Stress can be controlled and managed. So how can we do it? How can we manage stress and build our resiliency to deal with it? Today id like to share the most beneficial practices and tools I’ve found most helpful through personal experience.

DEEP MEDITATION

Going into deep meditative states changes internal thought patterning. Stress is often the way we react to a situation and what we tell ourselves about it. Over time practicing daily moments of calm and stillness rewires your mind and body and you will be better at remaining in this state of being throughout the day when stressful situations arise. During mediation focus on accepting whatever thoughts you have and doing your best not to judge them but as if your thoughts are just clouds passing by.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage helps address tension, tightness and pain in the body. It can also provide a mental reset from the outside world.  Stress or trauma gets stuck in the body and accumulates over time. Each stressful event the body tenses up. If you don’t have a way of clearing it the emotions may get trapped and stay within us.  Do you need massage to handle stress? No, But it can be a massively  beneficial for stress relief. Massage creates body awareness of where you hold tension and helps to clear blockages in the body.

DAILY SELF CARE ROUTINE/EXERCISE

I saved the best for last because this is the most important thing you can do for your health and managing stress levels. Now with all the wellness practices out there find what works for you and what you enjoy.  This can be either a gym workout, walking outdoors or anything at home. But ideally any type of daily movement. If your new to exercise I highly recommend YOGA.  It can be low in intensity and very calming providing a sense of well-being, calm and focus. As with anything controlling stress takes commitment and Consistency over time. If you want to deal with stress in a healthy way create a system of how you will deal with it and let it go. Over time you will see the changes you want!
